We currently have an exciting opportunity for a BI Developer to join our Technology team in either Haywards Heath, West Sussex or Salford Quays, Manchester.

You’ll be responsible for the timely management and delivery of quality data to the company, designing, developing, integrating and supporting our business intelligence data estate.

We’re looking for an outstanding and enthusiastic individual who’s results driven, will push the boundaries and develop solutions to contribute and help shape our future. We expect you to be self-motivated, enthusiastic, energetic and passionate about delivering data using a range of technologies, and have a solid understanding of data principles.

You’ll need to take ownership and responsibility for solutions while being organised and proactive. You’ll be an excellent communicator with good time management and structured task coordination, and be comfortable working to strict deadlines within a fast-paced environment while supporting live products and monitoring KPIs and SLAs.


Job responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of company data and analysing business needs
  • Code reviews and mentoring
  • Contribute to design, development, implantation and management of features from inception through to release and after-release upkeep
  • Collaborate with other product owners and team(s) to ensure surety of work delivered
  • Monitor environments, solution performance, bottlenecks and issues to ensure continued effective delivery of service
  • Contribute to code reviews and manage workload sizing and estimates
  • Contribute to the evolution of best practices within the business
  • Design, develop and promote reusable codes that are easy to maintain, understand and re-use
  • Write, review and own clear, concise and comprehensive technical documentation
  • Learn new technologies and keep abreast of existing technologies
 
Skills, knowledge & experience
  • Demonstratable technical experience in a comparable role
  • Substantial experience working with SSIS
  • Microsoft SQL Server BI Stack
    • Highly proficient with Microsoft SQL Server 2012 and later
    • Highly proficient with Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
    • Proficient with Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
  • Knowledge in different database architectures, techniques and approaches, such as (Kimball & Inmon) including relational OLTP and OLAP, Star and snowflake schemas and data ingestion methods
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving data problems, access and performance issues
  • Experience implementing and managing alerting processes to maintain the health of data solutions
  • Knowledge in any of the following: PowerShell, Server hardware and disk drive management, XML data and XQuery, real-time data warehousing techniques and table partitions, SharePoint, Advanced Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Tableau, C# / VB Script, Azure Data Factory, HDInsight, Data Lake Analytics, Azure SQL Database, RedGate SQL toolbelt, Provisioning (Clone & Mask)
  • Experience working within an AGILE development environment, Microsoft DevOps / Team foundation Server (TFS) and CI/CD and/or Atlassian Confluence
  • Previous experience of working within the motor insurance industry is highly desirable
