Join our team as the Capital and Reinsurance Reporting Lead, you'll be at the heart of our efforts to manage capital and shape our reinsurance strategy.

As the Capital and Reinsurance Reporting Lead, based in Gibraltar, you'll be pivotal in helping us manage our capital effectively and develop strategic reinsurance plans to drive our business forward. You'll handle day-to-day calculations essential for our Capital and Reinsurance processes and assist in preparing reports, regulatory filings, and management updates.

If crunching numbers and crafting insightful reports – are your thing, we’re talking mandatory Capital Returns like QRT, AQRT, SFCR/RSR, and ORSA – this is the role for you! Collaborating with our Capital Modelling team, you’ll conduct cost/benefit analyses and ensure our reinsurance program is optimized to meet our strategic goals and make strategic decisions about our quota share and excess of loss reinsurance programs.

We're all for hybrid and flexibility in your working life, with a few days from home, and a couple of days a week in the office - its the best of both (living in Gibraltar is a must!), But of course, it’s your choice - if you prefer to be in the office more - that's good with us too.

You’ll be great in this role if you’ve:

  • Accountancy qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent by experience – tick!
  • got experience within an insurance or financial services company with understanding of regulatory submissions
  • an enthusiastic interest in mastering Capital reporting, including Solvency II capital requirement calculations, own funds, and the application of Solvency II principles within the general insurance sector.

What’s involved:

Capital

  • Production of schedules, analysis and narrative of compulsory Capital Returns – QRT, AQRT, SFCR/RSR and ORSA, working closely alongside the Capital Modelling team
  • Production of full Solvency II balance sheet on a quarterly basis for regulatory reporting, including supporting schedules
  • Calculation of high-level GAAP to Solvency II balance sheet conversion on a monthly basis and assist in creation of monthly solvency reporting
  • Continuous development of capital processes and controls, in particular the Solvency II balance sheet process
  • Support the Head of Capital and Reinsurance on any ad-hoc and forecast capital modelling activities as required

Reinsurance

  • Support the strategic decision-making and placement of the Company’s quota share and excess of loss reinsurance programmes. Work with the Capital Modelling function to ensure appropriate cost/benefit analysis is performed alongside cost of capital calculations to ensure reinsurance programme is optimised and aligned with the company’s strategic objectives
  • Work with the Reinsurance Lead and Financial Accounts in the streamlining of the QS bordereau process under the guidance of the Capital and Reinsurance Manager
  • Support on BAU reinsurance processes including monthly reinsurance bordereau review and forecast and planning assumptions
  • Support the Capital and Reinsurance Manager on any ad-hoc reinsurance activities as required

Corporate Projects

  • Produce material for board and regulatory engagement on new corporate initiatives
  • Support on providing analysis and narrative of the capital impact of new corporate initiatives working with the capital modelling team to produce capital projections and relevant scenario analysis for both Group and 1CU

Other

  • Support and coordinate responses on ad-hoc queries from the Gibraltar regulator
  • Produce regular reporting for other internal and external stakeholders

Leadership

  • To deputise for the Capital and Reinsurance Manager as required
  • To perform any other duties as reasonably required

Qualifications, experience and skills

  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA / CIMA / ACA or equivalent by experience)
  • Experience within an insurance or financial services company
  • Good understanding of the calculation of Solvency II capital requirement / own funds and how the principles of Solvency II are applied to general insurers
  • Understanding of regulatory submissions
  • Clear and concise communicator so that senior leaders from both finance and non-finance areas can understand the issues quickly and make appropriate business decisions
  • Able to quickly grasp and articulate complex matters to others, from junior to Board level in an insightful way
  • Good time management and organisation skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate others in a high pressurised environment
  • Problem solving skills, with the ability to identify problems and adopt a logical approach to resolving problems
  • Excellent numeracy skills
  • Good knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
