We’re looking for a Technical Operations Data Manager to join our Technology team in Salford Quays, Manchester, Haywards Heath, West Sussex, or our offices in Guernsey.
With responsibility for the day to day delivery and long-term strategy of the DevOps Data team, you’ll support the Data Transformation Program with development, architecture, IT ops, business teams, and senior stakeholders. 
You’ll drive evolutionary change by coaching and driving forward new behaviors, together with creating a vision, building and developing the team to maximise the value of our estate, operating best practice processes so they remain current, secure and fit for purpose.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have:
  • Management experience of designing, building and operating of a highly scalable, secure and available data infrastructure platforms, ensuring high-quality data and reporting can operate 24/7
  • Significant experience in using analysis tools and working with large databases to produce reports and performance reports which inform priority and recommended action to enhance service delivery
  • Knowledge in the provision of multidimensional data stores and data modelling and excellent understanding of implementing DevOps
Job responsibilities
  • Be responsible for the continued development and delivery of the DevOps Data function
  • Support the implementation of an annual DevOps strategy in support with the IT Operations Director, IT Technical Operations Manager, Data Director which aligns to the wider IT strategy containing objectives, departmental initiatives and KPIs
  • Support longer term strategic initiatives, such as frameworks and technology, best practices, standards, techniques and business deliveries that will apply throughout all the Technology and business teams to increase quality and efficiency  
  • Lead data analysis workstreams, assessing impact on service delivery to prioritise action
  • Drive system and process improvements that will enhance data processing, reporting and insight
  • Identify resolutions and solutions to manual data management driving automation and efficiency in processes
  • Lead the priorities of the team, ensure high performance and availability of technologies for our stakeholders
  • Collaborate with teams to reduce or eliminate manual or repetitive tasks, helping to reduce or remove bottlenecks and inefficiencies across the business
  • Support budget and reforecasting to the wider Technology deliveries
  • Strengthen and evolve existing agile methods and lean thinking to improve time to market, while reducing operational and commercial risk
Skills, knowledge & experience
  • Significant experience working in a data management role with exposure to large complex data and root cause analysis
  • Substantial experience in manipulation of complex data
  • In-depth understanding of Lean/Continuous Improvement tools, thinking and methodologies
  • Strong understanding of cloud-based system architectures including storage, compute (including analytics and machine learning)
  • Substantial experience of data analysis and ability to draw conclusions to recommend improvement
  • Knowledge of information governance standards for data security and confidentiality and an understanding of their application in practice
  • Excellent understanding of implementing DevOps and understanding for CD/CI process
  • Understanding of insurance products, insurance distribution channels, claims handling, technology, data sources and databases, and the wider motor insurance industry
  • Good understanding of regulatory requirements specific to the Company and the functions under control
  • People management and leadership skills to motivate employees in a high-pressurised environment
