We’re looking for a Technical Pricing Analyst to join our Underwriting team in our Gibraltar office.

In this role you’ll provide analysis and insight to the Head of Technical Pricing by producing recommendations and reports which increase the profitability of the company.

We’re all about people and we’re passionate about continuous improvement, so you’ll assist the Senior Technical Pricing Analyst in managing workloads, helping to motivate and developing more junior analysts within the Technical Pricing team.

Core skills we’re looking for to succeed in the role:

  • Personal lines insurance in particular Motor pricing knowledge
  • Experience using GLMs and GBMs
  • Knowledge of Radar and Emblem

Nice to have skills, but optional:

  • Experience using Python and Data Bricks

What’s involved:

  • Production of statistical models to emulate factors influencing business performance and profitability which will include; demographic categorisation, GLMs, decision trees and other non-linear techniques.
  • Train, develop & guide other analysts and graduates in the production of statistical models which can be used to increase company performance.
  • Manage workloads and motivate direct reports in order to ensure engagement and productivity.
  • Make recommendations that can be implemented to improve overall Group profitability; principally to senior 1CU management, but also other Group companies where appropriate.
  • Represent the Head of Technical Pricing and Senior Technical Analyst in meetings as and when required.
  • Ensure compliance with company and other relevant standards/ regulations at all times, embedding  the delivery of good customer outcomes and the company values
  • Any other reasonable duties as required

Qualifications

  • 2:1 Degree level or above in a Mathematical or Statistical Science

Experience

  • Solid experience of a statistical role within the personal lines insurance industry, preferable motor insurance
  • Experience of SAS, Emblem, Excel, Radar and advanced statistical techniques

Skills & knowledge

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Good time management and organisation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to adopt a logical approach to solving problems
  • Excellent data and statistical analysis skills
  • Excellent numerical skills
  • Solid knowledge of motor insurance products and the motor insurance industry
  • Excellent understanding of the business objectives and operations
