We’re looking for someone to join our Underwriting and Assurance team as an Underwriting & Assurance Analyst in Haywards Heath, West Sussex. The UW & Assurance team are tasked with using analytics and insight to drive the ongoing optimisation of the FCG underwriting footprint, and the monitoring of underwriting and pricing performance, to support the delivery of profit and volume targets for the business. The Underwriting and Assurance Analyst is expected to contribute to and support various projects pertaining to these areas, produce analysis to support the team’s wider objectives, and proactively seek ways to improve existing processes in the Pricing & UW Department. Job responsibilities Use analytical and statistical techniques/models to support the iterative optimisation of the Underwriting Footprint Support the development and maintenance of analytical tools, reporting suites and appropriate feedback/action loops Monitoring of the Reinsurance Programme, and contribute to the modelling and assessment of future Reinsurance Programme Be a conduit for change and improvement within the Pricing & UW area and wider business Proactively monitor and suggest improvements which drives the business forward Work with Senior Analysts to proactively own personal development – researching and learning about new tools, techniques and data sources which may benefit the team Liaise with all departments on issues of reporting requirements, data analysis, business process and operational issues Analyse business issues to find solutions to and make recommendations to improve profitability Skills, knowledge & experience Experience gained from a relevant pricing, commercial or UW role preferably within the personal lines motor insurance industry Analytical programming languages, such as SAS, Python and R Building predictive model experience using applications such as Emblem, Radar (ML) and Python/R. Good knowledge of general insurance – preferably motor personal lines Minimum 2:1 in a numerical undergraduate discipline Broad knowledge of statistical methods and analytical techniques with a strong commercial acumen Strong IT skills (including Excel and ideally programming skills) Quick learner, self-motivated and enthusiastic An organised and pro-active approach What can we do for you?
