We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Compliance Monitoring Officer to join our Corporate Governance – Risk & Controls team in Salford Quays, Manchester, or Haywards Heath, West Sussex.
You’ll be a technical expert with an excellent understanding of the regulatory framework as it applies to First Central Group and its subsidiaries, and the key business and regulatory risks.
Supporting the business in managing regulatory risk, you’ll be responsible for carrying out field work activity, reporting any risk, providing feedback to managers, producing reports and compliance reviews of outsourced suppliers.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need to:
  • Have excellent understanding of Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) and Guernsey Financial Services Commission (GFSC rules), regulations, principles and codes of practice (including Treating Customers Fairly (TCF))
  • Have good understanding of the principles of Risk Management and their application
  • Preferably hold an International Compliance Association (ICA) qualification
Job responsibilities
  • Monitor own progress against the Compliance Plan (CMP), report on this to the Group Compliance Monitoring Manager (GCMM) on a monthly basis and refine flexible aspects of the Plan in line with risk profile of the relevant functions
  • Proactively identify and assess compliance risks applicable to the business, and record and discuss promptly with the GCMM and relevant representatives from management any compliance or regulatory issues
  • Promptly report any identified regulatory breaches in line with internal procedures
  • Provide effective feedback to management on monitoring activity, gathering evidence to confirm if any remedial action required is completed
  • Produce Compliance Monitoring Reports, proposing actions and resolutions for findings for submission to senior management and relevant management
  • Ensure a consistent approach to governance, control and documentation is applied across the business
  • Support the GCMM in the completion of compliance reviews of FCIM’s outsourced suppliers, where relevant
  • Support independent reviews of the control environment, particularly adherence to procedures and mitigation of regulatory risks and issues by management
  • Support the business with the review of Core Processes to ensure adherence to the Process Governance Framework
Skills, knowledge & experience
  • Experience of working in a similar role in the general insurance industry
  • Good understanding of motor insurance products and the motor insurance industry
  • Excellent communication, both verbal and written with the ability to question and obtain information from others
  • Problem solving with the ability to translate issues and find resolutions with a strong attention to detail
  • Confident in presenting complex information in a clear and concise manner, together with excellent report writing skills
  • A flexible approach and positive attitude
  • Excellent at building and maintaining relationships whilst being approachable and keen to help others
  • Good influencing and negotiating skills
  • Excellent organisation, with the ability to meet tight deadlines
